Our latest CQC inspection at cedarwood House
Following our most recent inspection by the Care Quality Commission (CQC), Cedarwood House continues to be rated Requires Improvement.
We believe in being open about this — and in explaining what it really means.
A Requires Improvement rating does not mean people are unsafe or uncared for.
What the inspection recognised:
The inspection acknowledged clear improvements since the previous visit. Progress was noted across a number of areas, reflecting the work already undertaken by our team. While the overall rating has not yet changed, the direction of travel is positive and firmly established.
What Requires Improvement means at Cedarwood House:
Care is warm, kind and person-centred
People are safe and well cared for
Some systems need to be stronger and more consistent
Leadership, governance and oversight are being improved
A Requires Improvement rating does not mean people are unsafe or uncared for. It means that while care is warm, committed, and person-centred, some systems need to be stronger, more consistent, and more clearly evidenced.
The inspection recognised the dedication of our staff and the positive relationships they have with residents. It also identified where leadership oversight, governance, and consistency must continue to improve — and that work is already well underway.
Safe, kind, and consistent care delivered by familiar staff
Strong leadership presence within the home
Improvements made thoughtfully, without disrupting residents
Continued investment in staff training, supervision, and support
Open and honest communication at all times
